Jasprit Bumrah, leading in Rohit Sharma's absence, and Mohammed Siraj shone with three wickets each in Australia's second innings. This marks India's biggest Test win in Australia by runs.

With the first Test match between India and Australia, India displayed a commanding performance, defeating the hosts by a massive 295-run margin at Perth’s Optus Stadium. This victory gives India a 1-0 lead in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. The win is India’s largest Test triumph in Australia in terms of runs, showcasing their dominance.

Chasing a daunting target of 534, Australia was bowled out for 238 in just 58.4 overs. Jasprit Bumrah, leading the Indian side in Rohit Sharma’s absence, and Mohammed Siraj were the stars with the ball, each claiming three crucial wickets in the second innings. The day began with Australia resuming at 12/3, but the Indian bowlers quickly dismantled their resistance, with Siraj removing Usman Khawaja early for just 4 runs.

This win also ended Australia’s unbeaten Test streak at the Optus Stadium. Notably, India’s triumph placed them at the top of the ICC World Test Championship standings with 110 points and a 61.11% win percentage. The series now moves to Adelaide for a pink-ball Test starting December 6 where both the teams will look forward to set the bar high for rest of the series.
