Every player could be great with the bat once he smashes a half-century across any format. But only a few of them are able to separate themselves from the greats to become the legends of the game. These players are created by consistency, who are able to score 50+ runs in the majority of the innings they have played across formats.

Scoring runs is definitely an art in cricket, and if it is done consistently, the batsman is declared an artist. There have been a few legends in the game who have managed to score more than 10,000 runs not only in one, but two formats of the game, which are the Test and ODI formats.

Cricket’s golden age blessed us with the “Fab 4”— Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, and Joe Root, a term coined by Martin Crowe. These batting giants have ruled Tests, ODIs, and T20s for over a decade, carrying their teams with unmatched consistency.

The Indian Premier League has been all about the batsmen smashing the bowlers out of the ground for boundaries, dominating in the shorter format of the game. But sometimes, the bowlers have been able to start off the match well, turning the match scorecards similar to those of the football matches, with the wickets falling before the runs were even scored.
