IND vs AUS: Rohit Sharma’s Optimism for Melbourne Test After Draw at Gabba
After the rain-affected third Test against Australia at the Gabba ended in a draw, Captain Rohit Sharma expressed satisfaction with India's performance. The series stands at 1-1, giving India momentum as they prepare for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne on December 26.
The Indian skipper acknowledged that they didn’t get a full game in Brisbane due to rain, but his team avoided defeat. This gives them confidence as they head into the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, aiming to turn things around in the ongoing five-match series.
In his media interaction, Rohit Sharma praised Ravindra Jadeja for his impactful innings and KL Rahul for his strong start. He also highlighted the valuable contributions of lower-order batters Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah, whose partnership helped India avoid the follow-on at the Gabba Test. He said:
I mean, we will take that. Obviously, to have interruptions like that wasn’t great, but going to Melbourne at 1-1 pretty much gives us that confidence to go out there and pull things towards us. The situation we were in just after lunch on Day 4 needed someone to stand up and take us through; we knew with the weather, we knew it wasn’t going to be a full game.
KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja were the standout batsmen for India in the third Test against Australia Rahul played a gritty 84, while Jadeja scored 77, adding 67 runs together to help India get back into the game at the rain-affected Gabba Test. Rohit Sharma also praised Bumrah and Akash Deep’s performances.
