Jasprit Bumrah Earns Nomination for ICC Test Cricketer of the Year Award

India’s fast bowler and the player who has earned praise all around the world, Jasprit Bumrah, has been nominated for the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year 2024. In a remarkable comeback year, Bumrah claimed 71 wickets from 13 Tests at an astonishing average of 14.92, the highest by any bowler in 2024. His standout performance came during India’s tour of Australia, where he led his team to a 295-run victory in Perth. Bumrah’s five-wicket haul and three more wickets in the final innings helped secure the win, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Other nominees for the prestigious award include England’s Joe Root, who scored 1556 runs from 17 Tests, including six centuries and a career-best 262 against Pakistan. Kamindu Mendis from Sri Lanka amassed 1049 runs from nine Tests at an average of 74.92, with memorable performances, including two centuries against New Zealand. Harry Brook, another England batter, scored 1100 runs from 12 Tests, with a maiden triple century of 317 against Pakistan.
