Akash Deep, who was a key player in the Gabba Test by helping India avoid the follow-on in the third Test against Australia, was dismissed for a duck by Scott Boland. This happened in the third session of Day 2 during the ongoing fourth Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Akash Deep, the nightwatchman, faced a sharp nic-backer from the Australian pacer that he couldn’t survive. Trying to defend, he got an inside edge onto his thigh pad. The ball then flew behind him towards the leg gully. Nathan Lyon was quick to react and made a brilliant diving catch just inches above the ground, successfully dismissing Akash Deep. It was an exceptional piece of fielding that added to the excitement of Day 2 in the fourth Border Gavaskar Trophy Test.

After facing 13 balls in the ongoing Boxing Day Test, Akash Deep walked back to the pavilion without scoring. His dismissal marked the third quick Indian wicket on Day 2. At the close of play, India were 164/5 at the stumps against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
