IND vs AUS: Nathan Lyon Shares Fun Sledge from Yashasvi Jaiswal During Perth Test
Nathan Lyon, the experienced Australian off-spinner, shared a funny moment from the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Perth. He revealed that young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal cheekily called him “old” during the match, adding some light-hearted banter to the competitive atmosphere.
Nathan Lyon has taken 532 wickets in 130 Test matches, making him Australia’s third-highest wicket-taker in the format. With an average of 30.4, he has claimed 24 five-wicket hauls and five 10-wicket hauls. However, he couldn’t make a significant impact with the ball in the recent Test match.
Nathan Lyon recalled Yashasvi Jaiswal calling him “old” while the batter was in fine form during the second innings of the opening Test. Lyon took the comment in good spirits, laughing it off and seeing it as part of the fun during the match. He said:
Young Jaiswal, he said that you’re a legend, but you’re old, he said that to me when I was bowling. He said that to me when he was muscling about at 120, but ya, it’s all good fun. Appreciate that, mate, but I don’t feel that old.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was out for a duck in the first innings of the Perth Test but made a strong comeback with a brilliant century in the second innings. He kept Nathan Lyon on the back foot and continued his aggressive approach against Australia’s pace attack.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 161 runs off 297 balls and Virat Kohli ended his century drought with an unbeaten 100. Their performances helped India declare at 487/6 and secure a 295-run victory in the recent match.
