Virat Kohli has been facing criticism from the Australian media during the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He is in the middle of another controversy following his shoulder barge with Sam Konstas. Australian cricket legends like Ricky Ponting, Mark Waugh, and others have also criticized the former Indian skipper.
Following Kohli’s incident with Konstas on Day 1, Kerry O’Keeffe criticized him on-air, saying that Kohli had built his career on arrogance. O’Keeffe also mentioned that Kohli couldn’t handle another young player matching his intensity, implying that he was unsettled by Konstas approach. He said:
Kohli has built his entire career on arrogance. Kohli has built his whole career on arrogance. Suddenly, he identified that in a debutant and seemed to resent it.
The 75-year-old former Australian cricketer admitted his mistake and apologized on Day 2 of the Test match. He acknowledged Kohli’s confident “swagger” on the field but mentioned that Kohli might have reacted negatively. O’Keeffe added that Kohli’s aggression is what makes him a competitive cricketer.
