In the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, India defeated Australia by 295 runs at Optus Stadium in Perth. Bumrah, who captained India, was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. He took 8 wickets, including a five-wicket haul in the innings.

Glenn Maxwell explained on the Grade Cricketer Podcast that it’s tough for him to tell the difference between Jasprit Bumrah’s bouncers and length balls. He added that Bumrah’s unique bowling action and his ability to make the ball move both ways make him extremely difficult to face. Maxwell said:

It almost feels like his bouncer and his length ball are very similar to where his release point is, and it’s really hard to pick up the difference between those and the ball always feels like it’s coming back into you and he’s got the ability to take the ball away, which just makes it extremely difficult.

Glenn Maxwell believes Yashasvi Jaiswal will score more than 40 Test centuries and break many records in his career. He praised Jaiswal for his strong game, saying he has few weaknesses and can handle pressure for long periods. Maxwell also expects Jaiswal to set numerous new records.
