India vs Australia: Pat Cummins Surpasses Milestone to Become Third-Highest Wicket-Taker Among Test Captains

Pat Cummins has surpassed Sir Garfield Sobers to become the captain with the third-most Test wickets, reaching 119 wickets in 31 Tests. In the ongoing third Test against India, Cummins dismissed Nitish Reddy to surpass Sobers' tally of 117 wickets. He now trails Imran Khan (187) and Richie Benaud (138). Cummins has also claimed eight Test fifers as captain.

The ongoing India vs Australia 3rd Test match has proved to be amazing for captain Pat Cummins, as he achieved a major milestone in his career. During the match at The Gabba, Brisbane, Cummins surpassed West Indies legend Sir Garfield Sobers to become the captain with the third-most Test wickets. He achieved this with the dismissal of Nitish Reddy, moving ahead of Sobers’s tally of 117 wickets. Cummins now sits third on the list, behind Imran Khan (187 wickets) and Richie Benaud (138 wickets).

Cummins, who started his tenure as Australia’s Test captain in 2021, has been instrumental in leading the team to several key victories, including a 4-0 Ashes series win and Australia’s first Test series win in Pakistan in 2022 after 24 years. He also guided the team to an ICC World Test Championship Final win against India in 2023 and was pivotal in Australia’s 2023 ODI World Cup triumph.

As of now, Cummins has 283 Test wickets in 65 matches. In the ongoing match, he has claimed 4 wickets for 80 runs in 20.5 overs. With his performance, Cummins continues to redefine the role of fast bowlers in leadership positions.
