In the third Test match between India and Australia at the Gabba, Brisbane, Jasprit Bumrah grabbed the spotlight for his batting skills. Coming in at 201/8, Bumrah faced Pat Cummins in the 68th over, where Cummins tested him with a short ball. Bumrah responded by pulling it for a massive six, catching everyone by surprise, including Cummins, who laughed off the unexpected boundary.

Despite Cummins’s subsequent bouncers, Bumrah remained unfazed and continued to stand his ground. This incident highlighted Bumrah’s unexpected batting prowess, as he has primarily been known for his bowling.

In a press conference on December 16, Bumrah also reminded a reporter about his record for the most runs scored in a single over in Test cricket (35 runs against Stuart Broad in 2022). Bumrah, along with Akash Deep have managed to prevent the follow-on against Australia as the fourth day has ended with India being on 252/9. His performance on day four, including the six against Cummins, added a unique twist to the ongoing match.
