IND vs AUS: KL Rahul Hails Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah as India Keeps Test Hopes Alive
KL Rahul praised Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah for their crucial batting, which helped India avoid the follow-on. He highlighted their partnership as vital, especially with rain disrupting the Test match, and appreciated their efforts under pressure.
India faced a challenging situation at 213-9 in their first innings after Australia scored 445 runs. Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah came together and built a crucial unbeaten 39-run partnership for the last wicket. Their efforts helped India reach 252-9 by the end of Day 4 at the Gabba in Brisbane on December 17.
KL Rahul mentioned that the bowlers are working hard to improve their batting. He praised the partnership between Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah for helping India avoid the follow-on and said it was a positive way for the team to finish the day. He said:
Yes, it’s very good to see when the lower order chips in and scores runs. That’s something that we discuss a lot in our meetings and the bowlers work really hard on their batting as well. It’s really good to see that they could go there and get that little partnership and avoid the follow-on. It makes a huge difference knowing that there’s a bit of rain around and so much of the game has been lost to rain. We need to find a way to stay in the game and I think Akash and Bumrah did that at the end. So, a good way to end the day for us.
With a 193-run deficit against Australia, India has avoided the follow-on as the match heads into the final day. Rain delays have reduced playtime, giving India an advantage and leaving Australia frustrated. Crossing the 246-run follow-on mark has improved India’s chance of saving the Test match.
