Kapil Dev’s Golden Advice, Indian Team Must Focus on Practice for Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev believes the Indian can improve for the upcoming 2024-25 Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia by focusing on consistent practice. Recently, India faced a tough 0-3 loss in a home test series against New Zealand, highlighting areas that need strengthening.

Both the batters and bowlers fell short of expectations, struggling to perform well. Although the bowlers had some good moments, the batters couldn’t stand up to New Zealand’s strong bowling attack. Star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma failed to score 100 runs in total across the three tests, especially struggling against New Zealand’s spinners on spinning pitches.

Kapil Dev advised Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to return to the basics, saying:

Go back to the basics. Practice and practice and practice. If you say I will improve by sitting in the room, then it is not going to happen. If you are going through a rough time, just practice more. The more you practice, the better it will be for you.

India’s Kapil Dev is considered one of the greatest all-rounders ever, known for his powerful batting and skill with the new ball. The team will not play a practice match before the test in Perth. Originally, they were set to play India A but decided to focus more on training instead.

The Indian batting lineup has been struggling, with several players failing to score runs. Senior batsman Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had a tough test season at home. They also skipped domestic cricket for workload management, which had faced criticism, as experts believe they need to improve against spin bowling.
