In the second Test at Pune, New Zealand made a solid start in the first session, scoring 92 runs in 31 overs while losing just two wickets. Devon Conway played a key role, remaining unbeaten on 47, providing New Zealand with a strong foundation against India in the opening session of the match.
After winning the toss, New Zealand chose to bat and made one forced change, bringing in Mitchell Santner for the injured Matt Henry, who had a glute issue. India, meanwhile, made three changes to their side, replacing Kuldeep Yadav, KL Rahul, and Mohammed Siraj with Washington Sundar, Shubman Gill, and Akash Deep ahead of the second Test in Pune.
In the first session, New Zealand lost their first wicket early when Tom Latham was dismissed for 15 runs, with R Ashwin striking as the team reached 32. The second wicket fell when Will Young was caught by Rishabh Pant off Ashwin’s bowling, leaving New Zealand at 76/2.
