India vs Australia: Travis Head Eases Concerns: “Just a Little Sore, Should Be Good to Go”
Travis Head, Player of the Match in the Brisbane Test, eased concerns about his groin injury, stating he is "just a little sore but should be fine". Head’s brilliant 152 off 160 balls on a challenging Gabba pitch included a strike rate of 95 and a historic milestone—becoming the first batter to record a King Pair and a century at the venue in the same year.
After being the most valuable player for the Australian team in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Travis Head provided a reassuring update on his groin injury, stating he was “just a little sore but should be fine”. Head’s exceptional 152 runs off 160 balls in the Brisbane Test earned him the Player of the Match award, solidifying his impact on the series. His knock, at a striking rate of 95, helped Australia post a competitive total on a challenging Gabba pitch, where he formed a crucial partnership with Steve Smith.
Notably, Head made history by becoming the first batter to score a King Pair and a century at the Gabba in the same calendar year. His consistency under pressure has been a hallmark, with vital contributions in the ICC World Test Championship final, the 2023 Cricket World Cup final, and the pink-ball Test in Adelaide. In the Post-Match presentation, he said:
Feels like I batted quite a while ago, to be honest. Happy to contribute, nice to get some runs and set us up in the first innings. Challenging wicket worked through the gears well, pleased I was able to get through and set the team up.
As the series stands tied at 1-1, Australia will rely on Head’s form and adaptability to push for victory in the remaining matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
