For the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, all eyes are on the Adelaide Oval as both teams prepare for a crucial contest. After a 295-run victory in the first Test at Perth, India leads the series 1-0. Australia’s hopes rest on overcoming injuries, with uncapped all-rounder Beau Webster potentially making his debut due to Mitchell Marsh’s unavailability.
Webster, a standout performer in the Sheffield Shield, has scored 1788 runs at an average of 51.08 since 2022/23, alongside taking 30 wickets last season. He recently contributed 110 runs and five wickets in a match-winning performance for Tasmania. In the post-match interview, Australian captain Pat Cummins stated that:
(Marsh) has been battling a couple of little niggles since the UK tour. He was a little sore towards the end of this Test match, so the next ten days he has a chance to freshen up and try to get it right. We’ll see how he goes.
India, led by Rohit Sharma, will aim to maintain momentum, with their bowlers in top form. Adelaide’s day-night Test conditions favor swing bowlers, adding intrigue to the contest.
The match begins on December 6, with Australia needing a strong comeback to stay in the series.
