A few years ago, Virat Kohli had an impressive average of over 50 in Test cricket, making him one of the few players in the world to achieve this in all formats. However, his form has declined in Test cricket since 2020, scoring just three centuries in 35 Tests, with one of those coming in the first Test of the current Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Sanjay Manjrekar shared his thoughts on social media following Virat Kohli’s dismissal in the first innings in Adelaide. He discussed Kohli’s decline in batting average and highlighted his ongoing weakness outside the off stump, which has been a concern for the former India captain in recent times. He said:

One important reason why Virat’s average has slipped to 48 now, is the unfortunate weakness outside off. But more crucially his adamance to not try another way to tackle it.

Sanjay Manjrekar criticized the star Indian batter, saying that Virat Kohli is stubbornly refusing to address his weakness. He pointed out that Kohli continues to get out in the same manner repeatedly, without making an effort to improve or overcome this flaw in his game.
