IND vs AUS: Ricky Ponting’s Insights on Mitchell Starc’s Fiery Adelaide Performance Against Yashasvi Jaiswal

Ricky Ponting claims that Yashasvi Jaiswal's remarks in the Perth Test sparked Mitchell Starc's outstanding performance in the pink-ball Test in Adelaide against India. Starc's match-winning display was driven by the challenge presented by Jaiswal's comments.

Mitchell Starc was on fire in Adelaide, taking his first wicket with his very first ball, the wicket was of India’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had famously sledded Starc in Perth by claiming he was “bowling too slow”. Despite looking in good form in the Perth Test, Jaiswal didn’t hold back from sledding Starc again.

Mitchell Starc responded to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s sledding with a wry smile and no words. Recently, Ricky Ponting discussed Starc’s thrilling performance in Adelaide, noting that he is usually a calm person in such situations. He said:

He’s actually a pretty level-headed guy, Mitchell Starc. He doesn’t get flustered too much, even you see when he’s bowling now. And if one of the batters does happen to say something, he generally responds with a little smile on his face. But I think that smile on his face might be just a bit of a cover for the fire that’s burning inside. Look, he bowled beautifully in Adelaide didn’t he?

Ricky Ponting noted that when provoked, Mitchell Starc can produce a fiery performance like he did in Adelaide. He specifically mentioned Yashasvi Jaiswal’s sledding in Perth, which appeared to be the trigger for Starc’s stunning display on the field.

For many years, Starc has been Australia’s leading fast bowler, causing trouble for the opposition with his lethal performances. He has faced many challenges but consistently remained effective with the ball.
