India will play Australia in the first Test of the five-match series at Optus Stadium in Perth, starting Friday, November 22. Skipper Rohit Sharma will miss the opening match, leaving Virat Kohli with added responsibility. Given his impressive record in Australia, Kohli will be crucial to India’s success in the series opener and will need to lead from the front with the bat.

Nathan Lyon recently shared a funny story about Virat Kohli during the 2014 Adelaide Test. He mentioned that every time Kohli walked to the non-striker’s end, he kept saying “Federer”. When Lyon asked him about it, Kohli replied, “I’ve got a beautiful forehand”, referencing tennis legend Roger Federer.

In the 2014-15 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with MS Dhoni out injured, Virat Kohli became captain for the first time in a Test match. He scored centuries in both innings of the Adelaide Test, making a big impression on Australian cricket. Kohli’s first tour of Australia was in 2011-12 and he has since scored six centuries in 13 Tests, totaling 1,352 runs at an average of 54.08.
