IND vs AUS: Kohli’s Comeback Century Puts India Ahead as Australia Faces Reality Check

Australia captain Pat Cummins faced criticism for making it too easy for Virat Kohli to score a century in Perth. Allan Border warned that a confident Kohli could pose a serious threat to Australia in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy, emphasising the need for better tactics against him.

The Border Gavaskar Trophy began strongly for Virat Kohli, who impressed with a brilliant century in Perth. After a poor series against New Zealand, where he managed only 93 runs in three Tests, Kohli was under immense pressure to deliver. His struggle continued early in the match as he was dismissed for just five runs in the first innings.

Under pressure, Kohli bounced back brilliantly on a favourable pitch, scoring his 30th Test century. His efforts helped India post a massive target of 534 runs for Australia, showcasing his determination and skill after a tough start to the match.

Former Australia captain Allan Border criticised captain Pat Cummins for allowing Virat Kohli to score a hundred without much resistance:

I was really disappointed in the way we let Kohli roll on to a hundred without much resistance. We don’t want this guy full of confidence for the rest of the series.

India’s reputation dipped after 0-3 loss to New Zealand, despite four straight Test series wins against Australia. Many predicted Australia would dominate, but India’s strong first Test performance gave them the edge before Adelaide. Australia hasn’t won a Test series after losing the opener since 1997.
