The controversy surrounding Bumrah’s bowling action is not new, but his skill to swing the ball both ways with a short run-up has sparked renewed discussions. His impressive performances in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 have led many to call for a closer look at the Indian pacer’s action, further fueling the debate.

Australian sports commentator Ian Maurice has caused controversy by accusing “political correctness” of preventing a proper analysis of Jasprit Bumrah’s unique bowling style. He criticized the Australian media for overlooking the Indian pacer’s action, claiming it had not been thoroughly examined. Maurice shared his thoughts on the platform X. He said:

Why has no one questioned the delivery of India paceman Bumrah? Is it not politically correct these days? I’m not saying he’s throwing, but at least the position of the arm at the point of delivery should be analyzed. Nine would have had it under the microscope some years ago.

Bumrah has impressed with his outstanding performances in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. With 21 wickets in six innings at an incredible average of 10.90, including two five-wicket hauls, the Indian pacer has dominated the Australian batting line-up the bowling chart.
