Greg Chappell has strongly criticised those who accused Jasprit Bumrah of chucking. He praised Bumrah as a “champion performer” with the ball and confirmed that his bowling action is clean, defending him against the unfair criticism.
In Perth, Jasprit Bumrah delivered an outstanding performance, taking 8 wickets for 72 runs. His brilliant bowling included a five-wicket haul in the first innings, helping to dismantle Australia. Bumrah’s remarkable efforts were crucial in securing a dominant performance during the Test match.
Despite facing serious allegations on social media, where some shared pictures claiming he was chucking, Bumrah remained calm and focused. The accusations didn’t affect him and he continued to deliver an impressive bowling performance, proving his skill and resilience on the field.
Greg Chappell praised Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling performance in his column for the Sydney Morning Herald. He stated that Indian bowling looks much sharper and more effective when Bumrah is in top form, highlighting the impact of his skills on the team’s performance. Chappell wrote in his column:
“India’s bowlers, spearheaded by the lethal Jasprit Bumrah, looked sharper and more menacing. Australia were bundled out for 104 in 52 overs, with Bumrah proving almost unplayable at times.”
Greg Chappell defended Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling action, stating it is completely clean. He praised Bumrah as a champion performer and expressed that the allegations against him were unfair. Chappell called the claims “nonsense”, emphasising that such accusations can be harmful and disrespectful to a bowler of Bumrah’s calibre.
