With the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 set to kick off on April 11, Pakistan’s star opener Fakhar Zaman has regained full fitness and is ready to play the opening match for Lahore Qalandars against Islamabad United. Fakhar’s return comes as a huge boost for the PCB and the PSL, especially from a commercial perspective, as the league overlaps with IPL 2025 this season, potentially affecting its viewership. The southpaw was earlier ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to injury after replacing Saim Ayub but sustained another blow in the first match.

Fakhar, a fan favourite, was also embroiled in controversy before PSL 2025 after a tweet against the PCB led to disciplinary action and exclusion from several series. However, Lahore Qalandars’ CEO Sameer Rana confirmed Fakhar is fully fit and will feature in the PSL 10 curtain-raiser. The PSL organizers are banking on big names like Fakhar to maintain viewership as the league faces tough competition from the IPL.

Additionally, reports suggest Saim Ayub has also recovered from his ankle injury and is likely to feature in the tournament after missing action since the South Africa tour. PSL 2025 promises an exciting start with key players returning just in time.
