Ahead of India’s two-day practice match in Canberra, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese shared a lighthearted moment with Indian cricket star Virat Kohli. The Indian squad was introduced to Albanese by captain Rohit Sharma, and although the interaction was brief, it featured a playful exchange between the PM and “King Kohli”.

Albanese, known for his occasional cheeky remarks, took a dig at Virat Kohli, praising the Indian batsman’s recent performance in Perth. He said:

Good time at Perth. Bloody hell, as if we were not suffering enough at point.

However, Kohli, never one to shy away from banter, fired back with a clever response that left everyone in stitches, showing his quick wit and sense of humor, replied:

Always got to add some spice to it.

The practice match serves as an important opportunity for India to prepare for their upcoming pink-ball Test in Adelaide. The last time India played a pink-ball Test in Adelaide in 2020, they were famously bowled out for just 36 runs in the second innings, a haunting memory that the team hopes to shake off. With a mix of experienced players and emerging talents, India is looking to regain their form in the upcoming Test. Meanwhile, the PM’s XI match will also serve as a platform for Australia’s young cricketers to showcase their skills.
