IPL 2025: Mitchell Starc Breaks Records after Joining Delhi Capitals in IPL Auction
Before even playing a match for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, Mitchell Starc reached a major milestone. He became the second Australian player in IPL history to surpass the INR 50 crore mark in the auctions, following his teammate and captain, Pat Cummins, who was the first to achieve this feat.
Mitchell Starc set the record when Delhi Capitals bought him for INR 11.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has been part of four auctions and has played in three IPL seasons so far.
In 2014, Royal Challengers Bengaluru signed the left-arm bowler for INR 4 crore. He played for the franchise for two seasons, making an impact with his bowling. After his time with RCB, he moved on to other teams and participated in several IPL auctions, eventually joining Delhi Capitals for INR 11.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Currently, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are the two most expensive players in the IPL. Pant was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 27 crore, while Iyer joined Punjab Kings for INR 26.75 crore. These high-value signings have made a significant impact on the IPL auctions.
So far, Starc has earned INR 50.90 crore in the auctions. Pat Cummins leads with INR 54.14 crore, followed by Glenn Maxwell with INR 49.50 crore. Former India players Yuvraj Singh and Dinesh Karthik are next in line on the list.
