IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans Set to Play Initial IPL 2025 Home Games in Vadodara Due to WPL Scheduling Challenges

The IPL Mega Auction for 2025 is over and fans are eagerly awaiting the tournament's start. Gujarat Titans have built a strong fan base after impressive showings in their first three seasons, thanks to their consistent performances on the field.

The Gujarat Titans joined the IPL 2025 in 2022 and surprised everyone by winning the tournament in their debut season under captain Hardik Pandya. In the next edition, they reached the final once more but faced a last-ball defeat against Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The Narendra Modi Stadium, the home ground for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL, is back in the news. However, for IPL 2025, GT will not play their few matches there. Instead, the newly-built Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara will host the franchise’s first few home games.

The shift in venue for the Gujarat Titans early home fixtures in IPL 2025 is due to the scheduling of the Women’s Premier League third edition. WPL will be hosted in two phases across Lucknow and Ahmedabad, with the second phase likely ending just before IPL’s start. As a result, the Titans may play their initial home games in Vadodara.

The decision isn’t surprising given that Delhi Capitals opening two WPL 2024 home games were held in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh, due to logical and infrastructural challenges at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, are likely to follow a similar approach for IPL 2025.
