India’s swing king and one of the best bowlers in the IPL, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, has issued his first official statement as a Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player for the IPL 2025 season. Kumar, who was bought by RCB for ₹10.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, expressed his excitement about returning to the franchise after a gap of 15 years.

He admitted that he was uncertain whether RCB would target him in the auction, but was pleased to receive messages from the team’s director and coach once he was picked. In the statement given, he said:

Honestly, it feels great to be back in RCB. It’s not new for me in terms of the environment because I know most of the guys. But of course, there are new guys, I’ll meet them. We’ll have a chat and we’ll play alongside each other for three months now. I had no idea whether RCB would go for me or not. Because the auction is a different dynamic. You don’t know what’s going to happen. But yes, when they picked me, I got a message from the director, the coach, and everyone else. I spoke to them. I’m really looking forward to this IPL. If you look at the bowling attack, I think RCB management has covered all the bases. Experience, skill-wise, pace, bounce, whatever that is. I think they’ve covered all the bases.

Kumar praised the team’s balanced bowling attack, which includes experience, skill, pace, and bounce. He also lauded RCB’s strong comeback in the previous season, particularly their impressive second-half performances. With 181 wickets in 176 IPL matches, Kumar remains one of the tournament’s top wicket-takers. He joins RCB with the hope of contributing to their success in the 2025 season.
