India’s Strategic Warm-Up Plans and Opening Pair Uncertainty Ahead of 1st Test in Australia
The Indian national cricket team is set to play a three-day intra-squad warm-up match at WACA stadium in Perth. However, the match will be held behind closed doors, with no public access from Friday to Saturday during the event.
The Gautam Gambhir-led team management decided to focus on match simulations on the center wicket in Perth rather than the planned intra-squad match. The Board of Control for Cricket in India canceled the practice game to prioritize workload management for the players ahead of the upcoming five-match test series.
The BCCI has instructed WACA ground staff to turn off their phones and refrain from taking pictures during India’s intra-squad practice match. Additionally, the ground will be covered with black screens to prevent public access. On Tuesday, the Indian team also held a net session at the WACA.
The Indian team arrived at Perth earlier this week to begin their preparations for the upcoming matches, starting with a net session to adjust to the Australian conditions. Players such as Rishabh Pant, Ashwin, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul were seen practising but Virat Kohli was noticeably absent from the session.
The first test of the much-awaited series will be held at Optus Stadium on Friday, November 22. The remaining matches will take place in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. In between the first and second tests, India will play a two-day warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XI.
