India vs Australia: Sanjay Manjrekar Critiques Coaching Staff as Virat Kohli’s Struggles Continue
Virat Kohli’s struggles continued as he was dismissed for just 3 runs by Josh Hazlewood on Day 3 of the third Test against Australia. Sanjay Manjrekar criticized the Indian team's coaching setup, questioning the unresolved technical issues of batters. India's top order faltered, with Jaiswal (0) and Gill (1) falling cheaply to Starc, leaving India reeling early in the innings.
The third Test match between India and Australia at Brisbane has been completely dominated by the Australian bowlers, leaving India reeling. On Day 3, Virat Kohli was dismissed for just 3 runs, falling once again to an outside-off delivery, this time bowled by Josh Hazlewood. Kohli’s ongoing struggles with offside deliveries have raised concerns about the role of India’s batting coaches.
Sanjay Manjrekar questioned the coaching staff, including head coach Gautam Gambhir and assistants like Ryan Ten Doeschate and Abhishek Nayar, for failing to address key technical flaws in Indian batters. He said:
I guess the time has come to scrutinize the role of a batting coach in the Indian team. Why major technical issues have remained unresolved for so long with certain Indian batters.

Australia’s pace attack, led by Mitchell Starc, dismantled India’s top order early in the day. Starc dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for 0, and Shubman Gill for 1, and set the tone for Hazlewood to claim Kohli. The Indian batting collapse reflects their continued struggles against Australia, particularly after similar issues in Adelaide. With a strong Australian lead of 445, India faces an uphill battle to save the match.
