India’s captain Jasprit Bumrah led a dominant bowling performance that saw Australia’s top order crumble under pressure. After India posted a modest total of 150, Bumrah’s pace attack dismantled the Australian batting lineup with a lethal spell. His four-wicket(4/17) haul was the standout performance of the day as he claimed the key wickets of Usman Khawaja, Steven Smith, Nathan McSweeney and Pat Cummins.

Bumrah’s leadership was on full display as he set the tone from the start, with his impeccable control and aggression. The Indian pacer’s first spell was vital, as he quickly accounted for Khawaja and McSweeney. Later, his dismissal of Smith and Cummins placed Australia in dire straits. With the Australian batting lineup reeling, Bumrah expertly marshalled his bowlers, including Mohammed Siraj(2/17), who supported him with two vital wickets. Also, the debutant Harshit Rana(1/33) impressed critiques with his controlled line and length which dismantled the stumps of the biggest threat for India, Travis Head.

As Australia’s middle and lower order struggled, Bumrah’s leadership kept India on top throughout the day. His skill with the ball was complemented by his calm approach as a captain in the absence of Rohit Sharma, ensuring that every bowler performed to their potential. At stumps, Australia was in a vulnerable position, and India’s dominance was clear.

Bumrah’s captaincy has not only brought out his best as a bowler but also showcased his leadership in one of the most demanding conditions. As India looks to press their advantage on Day 2, Bumrah’s performance has set the stage for a potential series-defining victory.
