India vs Australia: Brett Lee Believes Mohammed Siraj Faces a Tough Task Supporting Jasprit Bumrah
Brett Lee praised Jasprit Bumrah's exceptional performances in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, highlighting his world-class skills that overshadow his fellow pacers like Mohammed Siraj. Despite Siraj’s solid efforts, Lee emphasized that Bumrah’s brilliance sets him apart. With 21 wickets in the series and crucial performances, Bumrah has established himself as India’s leading fast bowler and a generational talent.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 has been 1-1 at the end of the 3rd Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, with Jasprit Bumrah continuing to shine as India’s premier fast bowler. Despite the absence of Mohammed Shami, Bumrah’s exceptional performances have set a high benchmark, overshadowing the contributions of fellow pacers like Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep.
Bumrah has claimed 21 wickets in three Tests, including a six-wicket haul in the Gabba Test. His consistency, ability to perform under pressure, and knack for striking at crucial moments have solidified his status as one of the best fast bowlers in modern cricket. To this, Brett Lee said:
He is world-class, Jasprit Bumrah. Unfortunately, they had no Mohammed Shami, but I think the backing of Mohammed Siraj — there has been a bit of conjecture around him — but I think he has bowled really well. In my opinion, they have an attack that has some good pace bowlers, but the reason why people say or think he is shouldering the whole load of the attack is that he is so good. He (Bumrah) is miles ahead of any other bowler, and that is no disrespect to the other bowlers going around, but that is how good he is.
Brett Lee, while praising Bumrah’s brilliance, acknowledged that the gap between him and his support bowlers is evident, with Bumrah’s skill making him stand out. With an average under 11 and 20 wickets in the series, Bumrah continues to lead India’s pace attack, making him an invaluable asset to the team.
