The IPL 2026 game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals never really became a contest after the first innings, even though Delhi had a brief moment where things looked interesting. Hyderabad’s total of 242 for 2 came largely because Abhishek Sharma just kept going. He did not rush at the start, but once he got in, the shots kept coming. By the end, he was unbeaten on 135 from 68 balls, with 10 fours and 10 sixes. It felt like one of those innings where every plan from the bowling side stopped working after a point. There was support around him, but the innings clearly revolved around him.

Travis Head helped get things moving with 37 and added 97 for the first wicket. Ishan Kishan came in and kept the pace up with a quick 25 off 13, and later Heinrich Klaasen finished things off with 37 not out from just 13 balls. By the last few overs, Hyderabad were not just looking at a big total. They were pushing it out of reach. Delhi’s reply actually had a decent start. KL Rahul and Nitish Rana kept the run rate healthy, and 98 for 1 after 9 overs meant the chase was still open.

Rana reached his fifty, but the game soon drifted. Once wickets began to fall, the pressure showed. The required rate kept climbing, and the middle order could not keep up. Sameer Rizvi played a useful hand with 41, and Tristan Stubbs hit a few clean shots, but neither stayed long enough to build something serious.

The key spell came from Eshan Malinga, who picked up 4 wickets and slowed things down right when Delhi needed momentum. At the end, Harsh Dubey closed the innings with 3 wickets in the final over, which summed up how the chase faded. Delhi finished on 195 for 9, 47 runs short. Hyderabad, on the other hand, looked in control for most of the match and walked away with their third straight win.
