IND vs AUS: Players pay tributes to Phillip Hughes and Ian Redpath during Adelaide Test

The Australian team wore black armbands as a tribute to Phillip Hughes on the 10th anniversary of his tragic death and to Ian Redpath, who passed away on December 1.

To honor Phillip Hughes’s legacy, flags are being flown at half-mast and players are wearing black armbands during the Day-Night Test between India and Australia. This tribute extends to all Sheffield Shield Trophy matches, with similar gestures observed in first-class games across the tournament.

During a Sheffield Shield match on November 25, 2014, at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Phillip Hughes was hit on the neck by a bouncer from Sean Abbott. The black struck an unprotected area, causing a vertebral artery tear that led to a fatal brain hemorrhage.

Phillip Hughes collapsed on the field and sadly died on November 27, 2014, just before his 26th birthday. His untimely death shocked the cricketing community and led to important safety improvements, such as the addition of neck guards to helmets, aiming to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
