Big Bash League 2024: Glenn Maxwell Joins the 3000 Club and Shines in BBL with Record-Breaking Knock

In match 28 of the BBL 2024-25 season, Glenn Maxwell scored a rapid 26-ball half-century against Sydney Sixers, boosting Melbourne Stars innings. He finished with 58 not out from 31 balls, hitting five boundaries and three sixes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

On January 9, during his unbeaten 58 against Sydney Sixers at the MCG, Glenn Maxwell reached the 3,000-run milestone in his BBL career. He became the sixth player in BBL history to achieve this feat, joining the ranks of Chris Lynn, Aaron Finch, D’Arcy Short, Moises Henriques, and Jon Wells.

During his explosive innings, Maxwell reached an important batting milestone in BBL history, joining a select group of Australian cricket who have achieved the same. This accomplishment further solidified his place among the top players in the competition.

Maxwell surpassed the career run total of Jon Wells and Moises Henriques in BBL, moving up to become the fourth-highest run-scorer in the history of the competition. This achievement highlights his consistent performance and places him among the top players in the Australian T20 League’s all-time run-scoring list.

Maxwell’s quickfire 58 off 32 balls helped Melbourne Stars reach a strong total of 156-5 in 20 overs after Moises Henriques won the toss and chose to field. This innings marked Maxwell’s 19th half-century in the BBL and the 55th of his overall T20 career.
