Lucknow Super Giants' ₹11 crore retention, Mayank Yadav, is likely to miss the first half of IPL 2025 due to a lumbar stress injury. Currently undergoing rehab in Bengaluru, the 22-year-old pacer had a breakthrough IPL 2024 season but has struggled with injuries. With the IPL 2025 season approaching, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) speedster Mayank Yadav is likely to miss the first half of the tournament due to a back injury, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. The 22-year-old pacer, who was retained by LSG for INR 11 crore, is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru after suffering a lumbar stress injury.

Mayank made headlines with his express pace in IPL 2024, but his season was cut short after just four matches due to a side strain. Despite his limited appearances, he secured both a lucrative IPL contract and a debut for India in the T20I series against Bangladesh last October. However, another injury setback further delayed his comeback.

Although there is no tentative return date, reports suggest that Mayank could feature in the second half of the season if he meets fitness standards and increases his bowling workload. LSG mentor Zaheer Khan emphasized that the franchise is not rushing his recovery, highlighting Mayank’s importance to both LSG and Indian cricket. LSG will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against Delhi Capitals on March 24 in Visakhapatnam, with Rishabh Pant leading the team.
