Is Rishabh Pant the Most Entertaining Batter in World Cricket?
Rishabh Pant is not just an aggressive batsman for the Indian team. He is also an absolute box office package for the team and fans. Not only does he perform with his bat, he also entertains the fans with stump mic skills, throwing away the bats, scaring the opposition and much more.

Rishabh Pant has been a star wicket-keeper batsman for the Indian cricket team ever since his debut. Even after making a comeback following a life-threatening accident, Pant has made sure to live every moment on the pitch. This not only means that he performs with the bat, but it also includes his on-field performances at the box office.
Whenever Spidey comes out to bat, excitement flows through the minds of fans and players, as they never know what is about to come next. He could either go far to attempt a wide delivery or step out against spinners when he is on 99. Thus, it can be said that everyone has their heartbeats at their peak, watching him bat.

It is not just the opponent team that remains scared when he comes out to bat, he also scares his teammates with his risky approach. Rest of the time the fans and players remain, “Mahol Pura Wavy” but when it is Pant on strike, this turns to “Mahol Pura Scary hai.”
Even in the first Test match after the first day came to an end, KL Rahul was seen joining hands in front of Rishabh Pant, when he walked back to the dressing room after the day’s play. But this is not just the only moment of Rishabh Pant we witnessed in the India versus England first Test. Let’s take a look at all the Rishabh Pant moments from the first Test till now.
Flying Bats to Flying Shoes
It is not just the balls that Pant sent flying down the ground, and it has never been. Whenever he comes out to bat for the team, he also sends the bats flying, sometimes even higher than the ball, which scares the opponent players. But in the match against England, an unusual event took place.

During India’s innings, Pant stepped out against Shoaib Bashir and, in an attempt to play a lofted shot, he lost the grip of his bat, which sent it flying behind the wicket-keeper. This may be usual for some fans to watch, but in the same match, he also had his shoes flying, which fortunately didn’t touch the stumps.
Even in the stump camera, his shoes were caught flying after Pant attempted to hit a delivery. This made the fans burst out laughing, as Pant didn’t only send his bat flying this time, he also sent his shoes in the match against England.
KL Rahul’s Scared
As we said earlier, when Pant comes out to bat, it is not just the opponent team that remains scared, because he can scare his teammates with his batting intent. Rishabh Pant also scared the team’s opener, KL Rahul, with his batting style on the very first day of the game.
Towards the end of Day 1, he stepped out on a delivery against Chris Woakes, sending it off to the pavilion. Funny reactions of Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes were also caught on camera, but the main reaction came when Pant went back to the team’s dressing room after the day was called off.
After going through the stairs, KL Rahul first patted Shubman Gill for his knock and further went down to bow to Rishabh Pant with folded hands. This is not just a gesture of how amazing Rishabh played in the match, but also how he had kept everyone on the edge of their seats during the game.
Face-Off with a Twist
Rishabh Pant came in to bat while Ben Stokes was at the other end, dominating for England with the ball. In just a few deliveries, he stepped in front and played an aggressive short down the ground, which went above Stokes head. This wasn’t just classic Test cricket, it was a box office moment for the fans in Headingley.
After he played the shot, Ben Stokes was caught laughing on the camera, looking at the intent of Rishabh Pant, smashing the deliveries even in the longest format of the game. It even sent the umpires into shock, as he struck the ball so hard, but fortunately, it went for a boundary.
Century in Pant Style
When most of the batters are standing at 99 not out, they aim for a single or double, which could help them to continue their century. But this is not in the case with Rishabh Pant, as he keeps the team ahead of his milestones. Due to this reason, even if he is standing at 99, he goes down the ground stepping in front of the spinners.

During the first innings, Pant was standing at 99 not out, and he stepped out to play for a six against the spinner Shoaib Bashir. This showcased that Pant is not just like the classic Test batsmen, dealing in singles and doubles, as he also brings down some thrill to the game with his batting style.
Another moment followed by his century that caught attention was Sunil Gavaskar, who said “Superb, Superb, Superb,” when he had completed his century. This gave some nostalgia to the fans, as in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Gavaskar said, “Stupid, Stupid, Stupid,” to Rishabh Pant for attempting the same shot, which he did to complete his hundred against England.
Stump Mic Special
Not just with the bat, Rishabh Pant also entertained the fans with his epic lines caught on the stump mic. During the 4th day of the Test match, he was having a conversation with Shubman Gill when he was unable to play aggressive shots against the pacers.
Responding to the skipper, Pant said, “Ye Vaali ball tameez se khelne ke chakkar me chuth rahi hai,” which showcased that he wanted to go all aggressive to the pacers but kept his composure. He also played an important role in taking the wicket of the English Skipper, Ben Stokes, when he came out to bat. Pant, known for his hilarious banters, made Stokes worry about the runs once again due to which he lost his wicket without even scoring much for the team.
Sunil Gavaskar Demands Celebration
Rishabh Pant came out as the star of the Indian batting line-up even in the second innings, where he smashed yet another ton. When he completed his century, Sunil Gavaskar was in the stands as he demanded Pant to perform the flip celebration, like he did in the first innings.
But Rishabh Pant did a different celebration, which various fans say is similar to the Spider-Man gesture. Responding to Gavaskar’s demand for the flip celebration, he said that he will do it the next time he scores a century in this series. With this, Pant has surely made his intent clear that he is ready to score even more in England.
The gesture of Sunil Gavaskar to demand a celebration from Pant still remains a box-office moment for the Indian fans, as Pant once received criticism from Gavaskar in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But now he receives praise in the series against England for his exceptional knocks.
Pant’s Pep Talk
Most of the time in the stump mic moments, players are caught having a conversation with their teammates or the opposition. But in the match against England, Rishabh Pant was caught in the stump mic having a pep talk with himself, after he attempted a shot against Woakes.
In an attempt for a paddle, Pant disbalanced himself and the ball struck the pads after connecting with the bat. Although the appeal by Woakes and Stokes was pulled down due to the connection with the bat, Rishabh Pant was still unhappy with the attempt he made to send the ball for a boundary.
This was known with the help of the stump mic, where Rishabh Pant told himself that there was no need for such a shot, and he could have played it straight also. It almost looked like Rishabh is fighting his inner demons to score boundaries unusually, and get to the player who scores in a classy way.
When Rishabh Bats, the World Watches
With the first Test match still having a day to end, Rishabh Pant has given loads of moments to the cricket fans and players to make the game a complete box office with Pant as the hero. Whether it is entertaining with the bat or with the stump mic, he has done it all, not only in this Test series but also in all the matches he has played for India. Ever since his debut, Pant is known to be the most sarcastic character in the Indian cricket team, adding a thrill to the game with either his batting style or stump mic moments.
