After being the center of attention ahead of PSL 2025, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam sparked concerns after limping off during a training session just two days before their opener against Quetta Gladiators on April 12. The incident, caught on camera and shared widely on social media, raised doubts about his availability for the start of the season. No official update has been provided by Zalmi’s management, but Babar’s potential absence could disrupt the team’s plans, given his crucial role as captain and top-order batter.

Zalmi, already facing a few setbacks, saw South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch withdraw from the league to join Mumbai Indians in the IPL as a replacement for Lizaad Williams. His exit, driven by career considerations, adds to the challenges for Zalmi. However, the team received a boost with the return of young opener Saim Ayub, who recovered from a fractured ankle sustained during Pakistan’s tour of South Africa.

This year’s PSL also marks the first time the tournament runs simultaneously with the IPL, intensifying the competition for players and viewership. As the league kicks off, Zalmi fans remain hopeful that Babar’s injury is minor and that he’ll be fit in time to lead from the front.
