India vs Australia: Michael Clarke Expresses Concern After Virat Kohli’s Masterclass Century in Perth Test
Michael Clarke expressed concerns after Virat Kohli's unbeaten century in Perth during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy opener, marking his 30th Test hundred. Kohli's innings, featuring 8 fours and 2 sixes, helped India secure a commanding 295-run victory. Despite a poor start with 5 runs in the first innings, Kohli's second-innings heroics highlighted his return to form after recent struggles.
Australia’s former captain and one of the best Test players in the world, Michael Clarke, has expressed concern following Virat Kohli’s match-winning century in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Perth. Kohli scored an unbeaten century, marking his 30th in Test cricket, to help India secure a commanding 295-run victory against Australia. Despite a poor start in the first innings, where he scored only 5 runs, Kohli’s second innings included eight boundaries and two sixes, setting up a 500-plus lead for India.
Clarke, on the “Beyond23 Cricket Podcast”, admitted that Kohli’s form “scares” him and predicted that Kohli would be India’s top scorer in the second Test in Adelaide. He also highlighted Jasprit Bumrah’s skill, predicting him as India’s leading wicket-taker. He said:
Losing a Test match is one thing, but Virat Kohli scoring a hundred in the first game scares me a lot. For me, he will be the leading run-getter for India, in the 2nd Test.
For Australia, Clarke chose Steve Smith as the standout batsman for the pink-ball Test and Mitchell Starc as the leading bowler, citing favorable swing conditions in Adelaide. The second Test begins on December 6.
