India vs Australia: India Faces Bumrah Fitness Woes Amid Criticism of Rohit’s Strategic Overshare
India faced fitness concerns ahead of the third Test against Australia as Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj skipped practice. Bumrah's injury fears grew after his reduced pace and visible discomfort during the Adelaide Test. With Mohammed Shami absent, Siraj might lead the attack if Bumrah is unavailable. India's loss raised questions about team management and strategic decisions.
For the 3rd Test between India and Australia at the Gabba, Brisbane, concerns loom large over India’s bowling lineup following Jasprit Bumrah’s suspected injury and Mohammed Siraj’s absence from practice. Bumrah, who appeared in discomfort clutching his inner thigh during the second Test in Adelaide, struggled with reduced bowling speeds in the second innings.
While the team management downplayed the issue as cramps, his omission from training has sparked doubts about his availability. Former cricketer Damien Fleming criticized Rohit Sharma for revealing team vulnerabilities by allowing Bumrah to bowl despite his apparent discomfort. Former Australian player Damien Fleming said:
There’s got to be some serious doubts. Siraj might be workload [related] but I’m bemused Bumrah bowled that over. They could have hidden this. They showed their hand. There’s no way that’s cramping. He was very ginger after the break in the first innings. He bowled again, not quite as slow as the second innings. I don’t even know why he bowled that over [in the second innings]. That actually gave some secrets away to everyone.
In the absence of Mohammed Shami, India is heavily reliant on its lead pacers. If Bumrah is ruled out, Akash Deep may step in to support Siraj, who could lead the attack, replicating his heroics from four years ago. The Test is crucial for India after their 10-wicket loss, and changes are anticipated, including Washington Sundar potentially replacing Ravichandran Ashwin to bolster the batting lineup.
