Australian batter Steve Smith heavily applauded Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his unique bowling style and impressive skill set after Bumrah’s stellar performance in the Perth Test. Bumrah claimed eight wickets in the match, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings, leading India to a dominant victory, which helped to keep their chances for the WTC final alive. His outstanding efforts earned him the Player of the Match award.

Speaking to an Australian news source, Smith highlighted what makes Bumrah a challenging bowler to face. He remarked:

From the start of his run-up, it’s just all awkward. The way he runs in is different to pretty much anyone else, then the last bit of his action is different. I’ve faced him a reasonable amount now, and each time you face him it takes a few balls just to get the rhythm of it in a way.

Smith further explained Bumrah’s awkward release point and added:

He releases the ball closer to you than any other bowler, just the way he does it. So maybe it rushes you a bit more than you think, and it’s just an awkward action.

Bumrah’s performance in the Perth Test not only helped India secure a commanding win but also underscored his value as a match-winner. As the series progresses, Australia will undoubtedly look to counter the threat posed by India’s star pacer.
