Big Bash League 2024-25: Good Signs for CSK as Nathan Ellis Shines Against Melbourne Renegades in BBL Clash
Nathan Ellis showcased exceptional all-round brilliance for the Hobart Hurricanes in their BBL 2024/25 match against the Melbourne Renegades. Despite his crucial 35-run knock and disciplined bowling, the Hurricanes fell short, losing by six wickets in a one-sided contest.
Hobart Hurricanes’ overseas star Nathan Ellis delivered an impressive all-round performance in the Big Bash League 2024-25 clash against the Melbourne Renegades. However, his efforts were not enough to prevent the Hurricanes from suffering a heavy six-wicket defeat.
Ellis, recently signed by Chennai Super Kings for INR 2 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, showcased his mettle in a difficult situation. Walking in to bat at a precarious 32-6 in the fifth over, Ellis played a pivotal innings, scoring 35 runs off 29 balls at a strike rate of 120.69. His knock, which included five boundaries and a six, saved the Hurricanes from complete humiliation and pushed their total to 74 all out in 12.4 overs.
The Melbourne Renegades’ bowlers, led by Thomas Stewart Rogers and Fergus O’Neill, had earlier wreaked havoc, claiming three wickets each.
With the ball, Ellis continued to impress, delivering three economical overs and picking up two key wickets, including Josh Brown and Jacob Bethell. He conceded only 12 runs, giving the Hurricanes a glimmer of hope. However, the target was too modest to defend, and the Renegades comfortably chased it down with 11 overs to spare.
While the Hurricanes’ lackluster performance left fans disappointed, Ellis’ stellar showing is a promising sign for CSK ahead of the IPL 2025 season. His ability to perform under pressure will undoubtedly be an asset to the Chennai-based franchise.
