Sunrisers Hyderabad to Opt Out of Home Matches? Major Decision After BCCI’s Intervention!

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) have resolved their dispute over ticket distribution for IPL 2025. SRH had threatened to shift home matches from Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium due to disagreements over complimentary passes. After discussions, both parties agreed to maintain HCA’s 3,900 complimentary passes. With the issue settled, SRH will continue hosting matches in Hyderabad, including their next home game against Gujarat Titans on April 6.

After playing at their home ground, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) resolved their dispute with the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) regarding ticket distribution and operational concerns for IPL 2025. The disagreement emerged over the allocation of complimentary passes, with SRH accusing HCA president A Jagan Mohan Rao of pressuring the franchise for extra tickets. This dispute even led to the closure of a spectator box during SRH’s home game against Lucknow Super Giants on March 27.

Following a meeting initiated by HCA secretary R Devraj, both parties reached an agreement. SRH agreed to adhere to the existing tri-party agreement with HCA and BCCI, ensuring 10% of stadium capacity was allocated for passes. HCA maintained its previous allocation of 3,900 complimentary tickets.

With this resolution, SRH is now focusing on their next home game against Gujarat Titans on April 6. The team, led by Pat Cummins, has had mixed results at home. They secured a record 286/6 against Rajasthan Royals, winning by 44 runs, but lost their next game to Lucknow Super Giants after managing 190/9. The upcoming match against GT will be crucial, especially since their last encounter at this venue in 2024 was abandoned due to rain.
