MS Dhoni Set for Historic 400th T20 Match Amid CSK’s Do-Or-Die IPL Clash!

MS Dhoni is set to become the fourth Indian to play 400 T20 matches, joining Rohit (456), Karthik (412), and Kohli (407). With 5,377 IPL runs and 98 T20Is, Dhoni now leads CSK after Gaikwad’s injury. CSK, with just 4 points, must win all remaining games to stay in IPL 2025 playoff contention.

For the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), their upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) marks a crucial moment in both teams’ and individual history. MS Dhoni is on the verge of becoming just the fourth Indian cricketer to play 400 T20 matches, joining Rohit Sharma (456), Dinesh Karthik (412), and Virat Kohli (407) in this elite group. Dhoni’s T20 journey includes 98 T20 Internationals, 272 IPL games, and 24 Champions League T20 appearances. Additionally, he has played several domestic T20 matches for Jharkhand.

Statistically, Dhoni has scored 1,617 T20I runs at a strike rate of 126.13, 5,377 IPL runs at 137.87, and 449 runs in the Champions League. Despite this legacy, the 2025 IPL season has been disappointing for both Dhoni and CSK. The 43-year-old has managed only 134 runs in eight matches, with a highest score of 30.

Initially led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK won their opener against the Mumbai Indians. However, Gaikwad’s injury forced Dhoni back into the captaincy role, where he has won just one of three matches. CSK are currently last on the points table with four points and a poor Net Run Rate. They must win all their remaining games to keep playoff hopes alive, making the SRH match a must-win.
