During the fifth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Sydney, Bumrah experienced back spasms and had to leave the field. He was taken to the hospital for scans and couldn’t bowl in the second innings. The BCCI’s medical team has not yet shared an official update on how serious his injury is.

Jasprit Bumrah is expected to miss out of the white-ball matches against England, starting January 22 with five T20Is and three ODIs. This decision aims to manage his workload and focus on his recovery from a back injury, keeping the upcoming Champions Trophy in mind. Report says:

It was reported that the India star will be rested for the white-ball home series against England, which begins on January 22. While Bumrah will be picked in the provisional squad for the Champions Trophy, which has to be submitted latest by January 12 according to the ICC rule, his participation will be subject to getting a medical clearance.

A report says that New Zealand orthopedic surgeon Dr Rowan Schouten, who treated Bumrah for a back injury in 2023, has been consulted again. The surgeon is reportedly in touch with the BCCI’s medical team and selectors are expected to receive updates on his condition.
