Despite India's 1-3 loss to Australia in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, reports indicate that head coach Gautam Gambhir's position remains secure. While there will be a review of performances, sources reveal that no action will be taken against Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, or Virat Kohli. With the loss against Australia in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), India’s senior players, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, along with head coach Gautam Gambhir, have faced significant criticism. India won the first Test but lost the remaining three, ending the series 1-3.

Despite the disappointing outcome, reports suggest that there will be no immediate action against Gambhir, Kohli, or Rohit. According to sources, a review meeting will take place, but Gambhir’s position as head coach remains secure. The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) believes that it would be unfair to hold the coach accountable for the poor performance of the batters in just one series.

Kohli, who started the series with a century, ended with 190 runs, while Rohit managed only 31 runs across three Tests. Despite their struggles, both players are expected to remain part of India’s squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy and the five-match Test series in England in June. Gambhir defended the duo, stating that they still possess the hunger and passion to continue representing India. India’s performance in Test cricket under Gambhir’s tenure has been inconsistent, but they remain dominant in T20 formats.
