CSK Shakes Up IPL 2025 as Ex-RCB Star Joins as Key Coach
Chennai Super Kings have appointed former RCB player Sridharan Sriram as their assistant bowling coach for IPL 2025. The 49-year-old, known for shaping stars like Chahal and Zampa, joins Stephen Fleming's staff alongside Eric Simons. CSK kicks off their title hunt on March 23 against Mumbai Indians at Chepauk.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have appointed former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) player Sridharan Sriram as their assistant bowling coach. The Chennai-born former India all-rounder, who played 8 ODIs, brings vast coaching experience from global assignments, including stints with Australia and Bangladesh.
Sriram previously worked as a spin consultant for the Australian team, helping Nathan Lyon and Adam Zampa during the 2017 India tour. He also served as a technical consultant for Bangladesh during the T20 World Cup, enhancing their spin attack. Additionally, he has coached young IPL talents like Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel while working with RCB and Delhi Capitals.
Joining head coach Stephen Fleming and primary bowling coach Eric Simons, Sriram’s expertise will strengthen CSK’s spin department, a crucial asset at their home ground, Chepauk. His appointment aligns with CSK’s strategy of blending local expertise with global experience.
The Super Kings will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against Mumbai Indians on March 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. With Sriram’s tactical acumen and Simons’ pace insights, CSK aims to secure their sixth IPL title in the upcoming season.
