In the match between Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes during the BBL 2024-25 season, Sydney Thunder captain David Warner faced an unusual moment on the field. While attempting a shot on the first ball of the fourth over, bowled by Riley Meredith, Warner’s bat broke mid-swing. A part of the broken bat hit Warner on his helmet, adding a comedic yet concerning twist to the game. The incident was shared on social media, with the official BBL handle posting a video that quickly went viral.

Warner, undeterred, remained at the crease and scored an unbeaten 33 runs off 27 balls, including two boundaries. His performance was crucial as other Sydney Thunder batters struggled on the tricky Bellerive Oval pitch, where conditions seemed unfavorable for batting. The team managed 53/2 after eight overs, with Warner holding one end steady.

Meanwhile, Riley Meredith had an eventful over, dismissing Warner’s opening partner, Sam Konstas. Konstas gloved a short ball to wicketkeeper Matthew Wade. Chris Jordan also contributed to Hobart’s bowling attack with a wicket.
