It has been reported that Pakistan is looking forward to having their Test captain Shan Masood, replace Saim Ayub in their Champions Trophy Squad. Saim Ayub suffered an ankle injury in the Test match against South Africa, due to which he has been sidelined from the major tournament.

Also, Pakistan is yet to make an announcement for their Champions Trophy squad, as the injury of Ayub becomes one of the major reasons for the same. PCB is also having direct contact with the doctors in London to know about his injury status and availability at the earliest.

According to some reports, the board is also considering replacing Shan Masood as the opener in the team. But it depends on his performance in the second Test match against West Indies. Also, Imam-ul-Haq is being considered for the opening slot along with Shan Masood.

On the other hand, Abdullah Shafique is suffering from bad form, due to which the spot of Shan Masood as an opener looks sealed for the Champions Trophy. He has scored just 163 runs in 9 ODI matches at an average of 18. Although the numbers aren’t good, Masood is likely to mark a comeback in the ODI format for Pakistan in CT.
