West Indies vs England: Drama at Kensington Oval: Alzarri Joseph’s Dramatic Walk-off Following Dispute with The Skipper

During the third and final ODI between the West Indies and England, an unexpected incident unfolded and raised questions around the current Indies cricket culture as fast bowler Alzarri Joseph walked off the field following a tense disagreement with his captain, Shai Hope, at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The drama began early in England’s innings, with the visitors at 10/1. Joseph appeared frustrated with the field placement after delivering the first ball of the fourth over, gesturing toward the slips and showing visible disagreement with Hope’s arrangement. Despite the tension, he continued bowling and soon dismissed England’s Jordan Cox with a 148.2 kph deadly short ball, caught by Hope behind the stumps.

In a surprising turn, instead of celebrating the wicket, Joseph headed straight off the field without speaking to his captain or acknowledging his teammates. Ground cameras and fans captured him muttering as he walked, clearly still agitated. In the dressing room, Joseph looked visibly upset and irritated, while head coach Darren Sammy attempted to defuse the situation just beyond the boundary. Although the pacer initially resisted, he eventually returned in the 12th over to continue his remaining spell.

The incident left fans and analysts gossiping about the nature of the disagreement and raised questions about the team’s current dressing room environment. Despite Joseph’s return, the brief walk-off underscored the underlying tension, fueling discussions about potential issues within the West Indies squad.
