ICC Champions Trophy 2025: ICC Faces Growing Pressure Over Venue Dispute Ahead of Crucial Board Meeting

An urgent ICC board meeting is scheduled for November 29 to address the growing issue over the venue for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. With tensions between India and Pakistan rising, the ICC aims to find a clear solution regarding the tournament’s location.

BCCI has made it clear that Team India will not travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to security concerns. On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board has refused to accept a hybrid model, which would have allowed India to play their matches in a neutral country instead of Pakistan.

According to reports, the ICC will likely ask all board members to vote in the meeting to decide the future of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The members will share their views to help the ICC resolve the ongoing India-Pakistan dispute.

The meeting will likely be held virtually, with a decision to be made only once the ICC Board members reach an agreement. The ICC has planned the original window for the eight-nation ODI tournament between February and March, but official dates and the schedule have not yet been announced, as they are usually revealed 100 days before a global event.

The ICC is under pressure to find a solution that satisfies both the BCCI and PCB. The Indian government’s refusal to allow the Indian cricket team to cross the border is causing delays in announcing the Champions Trophy 2025 schedule.
