Champions Trophy 2025: India’s Matches in 2025 Champions Trophy Set for Neutral Venue Amid ICC Agreement

India's 2025 ICC Champions Trophy matches will not be played in Pakistan, following an agreement between the ICC, BCCI, and PCB. Matches involving India in Pakistan-hosted events will occur at neutral venues, with a reciprocal arrangement for Pakistan in India-hosted events. The decision spans several ICC tournaments and introduces the possibility of a neutral-venue tri-series.

India’s matches in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will be hosted at a neutral venue rather than in Pakistan, as per an agreement reached between the ICC, BCCI, and PCB. This arrangement is contingent on approval by the ICC and establishes a reciprocal framework for handling India-Pakistan fixtures during the 2024–2027 ICC event cycle.

Under the terms, matches involving India in ICC events hosted in Pakistan will move to neutral venues, and Pakistan’s matches in India-hosted events will follow suit. The arrangement will affect major tournaments, including the 2025 men’s Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the 2025 women’s ODI World Cup in India, and the 2026 men’s T20 World Cup jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. This agreement could extend to the 2028 Women’s T20 World Cup, set to be hosted in Pakistan.

The neutral venue will be proposed by the hosting board and require ICC approval. Additionally, a triangular T20I series involving India, Pakistan, and another Asian team—or a quadrangular format with an Associate Member—has been proposed as compensation for Pakistan losing out on hosting India’s Champions Trophy matches. These series, if organized, would also be held at neutral venues.

This decision is seen as a practical solution amid ongoing political and diplomatic tensions, allowing the continuation of ICC tournaments while accommodating logistical and security concerns for both nations.
